Mon Rovîa
Liberia
Mon Rovîa, born Janjay Lowe, was born in Monrovia, Liberia, during a period of civil unrest. As a child, American missionaries adopted him and moved to the United States, where he grew up in Florida and Tennessee. Living between cultures shaped his identity and songwriting. He discovered music as a teenager, learning guitar and ukulele and developing a passion for folk storytelling.
He began releasing music independently in 2017. His debut EP "Sunburnt" (2020) introduced a mix of folk, R&B, and hip-hop influences. In 2021, he released his debut album, "Dark Continent," expanding his audience.
Between 2022 and 2023, he released the Act series, exploring identity and personal growth, with songs like “Vulture Culture” and “Where the Rivers Run.” In 2024, he achieved global recognition and earned the title Artist to Watch. In 2025, he debuted at the Grand Ole Opry. His 2026 sophomore album, "Bloodline," continues his storytelling focus.
