The battery grid, not the motorcycle maker - and when a competitor with three to four times the capital came for the motorcycle, Ampersand let it come.In the mid-2010s an engineer in Rwanda was keeping lithium batteries running on the rooftops of rural health clinics. In 2016 he and three others incorporated a company in Kigali to put that same chemistry under a motorcycle seat.This is the story of what Ampersand was actually building, and when it said so out loud.
