Journey
Moving between music, television, and stage work, Robbie Klay built a career that doesn’t sit in one box. Born on 20 June 1986 in South Africa, he stepped into performance early, developing as both a singer and actor long before his name reached wider audiences.
His music journey includes an extensive recording run, with over ten studio albums released locally. His sound leans toward pop with dance influence, shaped for radio and live performance, while his stage presence helped him remain visible beyond studio releases. In recent years, he extended that reach internationally, performing in Los Angeles venues such as the House of Blues, Hard Rock Cafe, The Viper Room, Molly Malone’s, and Republic of Pie.
Acting has been just as central to his path. He trained at Pro Arte and Drama High School in Pretoria, later graduating with honours from Technikon Drama School. He also studied in the United States at TVI Actors Studio in Los Angeles, sharpening his on-screen and stage work.
Television audiences recognise him for his role as Buks van Wyk in the soap opera "Amalia" (2005–2006), with the show returning to screens in 2009. His international screen work includes appearances in commercials for Navy Federal Credit Union and DIRECTV in 2013, as well as a role in the music video for “The Man” by Aloe Blacc in 2014.
On stage, he has taken on theatre roles in productions like "Vaselinetjie," performing at Woordfees in Stellenbosch and Aardklop National Arts Festival. These performances reinforced his versatility, moving comfortably between music stages and scripted roles.
Across all these areas, Robbie Klay’s career reflects a performer who built his identity through consistency and range, balancing recording, acting, and live appearances while maintaining a steady presence both locally and abroad.
