In March 1922, Johannesburg's Witwatersrand gold mining district erupted in open insurrection as 20,000 white miners took up arms against the South African state. This episode explores the causes and course of the Rand Rebellion — a violent uprising born from the collision of racial privilege, class conflict, and capital.
