We decided to invite Shadi Hamid, a scholar and writer at the intersection of democracy and foreign policy to talk about his new book, "The Problem of Democracy" and how democracy is playing out as an issue in this election. More than a foreign policy book, Shadi presents a new idea, "democratic minimalism" for us to consider in the US's foreign policy towards the Middle East and at home here in the US.
